The 17 year old woman was taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh activity with her DoE supervisor and other experienced adults. Whilst on the Mynydd Moel area of the Cadair Idris range her foot went into a hole causing her to fall and twist the joint.
Given the location high on the mountain and the nature of the injury it was decided to request helicopter assistance. The scene was attended by Rescue 936, part of the newly operational rescue service operated by Bristows, and the casualty was evacuated to Aberystwyth for further hospital based care.
Other members of the party were escorted off the hill by team volunteers. Everyone was off the hill by 5:45 p.m.
