​At approximately 5:00 p.m.  the Team received notification of a  young adult in distress on the hills above Ceinews. 

Part of a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, the casualty had sustained a leg injury and had also become increasingly ill. With concerns for the individual's welfare, group leaders called for assistance. 

On arrival, the Team's Remote Rescue Medical Technicians undertook medical assessment and a Team vehicle was dispatched through adjacent forestry to extract the casualty back to the road.

The casualty was returned to the care of DoE staff for onward assessment and the incident was closed at around 8:00 p.m.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday 19th March, Team call-handlers were made aware of a crag-fast walker on Cader Idris.

The 54 year-old man was part of a party of 4 who had walked up the Pony Path and lunched at the summit. The group decided to descend by a different route and opted for the Foxes Path, a steep and loose scree.

The casualty  had started getting cramp in his thighs on the way up the mountain. On the descent, he started to lag behind the other three, drifted into the gully rather than staying on the ridge, and a combination of  fatigue and severe cramp caused him to stop. The others in his party had continued down off the mountain.

Given the man's location, the rescue party could have opted to continue down the rough scree of the foxes path or return to the summit plateau and pick up a better path. However, the casualty was clear that he did not want to continue down on this route. After providing food, water and extra clothing the man was assisted upwards to the summit plateau. Progress was much better once on flatter ground, and the casualty party met up with the main stretcher party just beyond the summit hut. By this point was in better spirits, and with more food inside him, progress remained reasonable, and the stretcher was not required to complete the descent.

Everyone was safely down off the mountain by 11:00 p.m.

As the Team was deploying to Abergynolwyn to attend an incident, a second call-out was received, describing a man trapped in a ravine near Llangynog.

With resources tied up in the first incident,  our neighbours at North East Wales Search & Rescue agreed to attend this second job. In the event, the man managed to self rescue shortly afterwards, and NEWSAR was stood down.

At around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday 16th March, Call-Handlers from the Team were made aware of a man with an injured leg on Tarren y Gesail, above Abergynolwyn.

The 64 year old man from Somerset had sustained an ankle injury following a slip whilst fell-running and was unable to load-bear on the injured leg. 

A hasty party, which included a Team volunteer who farms land in the area, was able to utilise hill tracks to drive to within a kilometer of the casualty as other volunteers made their way to the incident.  

The man's ankle was splinted, and the casualty was stretchered over boggy ground down to the trail head for transport down the hill in a Team vehicle. The injured man was driven to Ysbwty Gwynedd by friends for further treatment.

​Everyone was safely off the hill by 5:30 p.m.

At around 10:20 a.m. on Thursday 14th March, Team call-handlers were requested to asssist in an ongoing search for a missing person near Dinas Mawddwy, Powys.

The missing person, an 89 year old woman, left the house at 05:30 a.m. the same day and had not been seen since. Family and friends from the local farming community had been out searching, and subsequently the search involved Police helicopters and drones. The Team was requested to help conduct a search of the nearby river. A SARDA Wales trailing dog was also requested to try and follow the lady's movements.
 
At around 11:30, neighbours reported seeing a body in the river and this was recovered to the shore by police officers. Team volunteers already on scene were able to provide water support to the recovery, and to assist in carrying the casualty up a steep and slippery field to the roadside.

All volunteers were back at their vehicles by 4:00 p.m.
