The man had been attempting to ride the Mach-3 trail, but had strayed from the route and had become disorientated.
Talking to the casualty, and to local team members with detailed trail knowledge, the call-handler identified likely locations that fitted with the man's verbal descriptions. After consultation with the call-handler, the biker was willing to attempt to retrace his route, with the request that he made regular welfare calls back to the Team to keep them informed of progress.
With this strategy in place, the man was able to find his way back to the road-head and hence to his vehicle.
