The man, aged 47, was experiencing a number of symptoms consistent with a heart problem, and given the potential serious nature of his condition, it was decided to request Coastguard helicopter R936 to speed up the transfer to hospital. The aircraft was very quickly on scene, by which time the phonefind protocol had been used to obtain an accurate location for the party by quizzing their smartphone. The casualty was assessed by the attending winchman, and then winched into the aircraft for transfer to hospital for further tests and treatment.
At around 12:15 p.m. Team call-handlers received a request from the Welsh Ambulance Service, via North Wales Police, to assist a male suffering chest pains on Cader Idris.

At around 6:00 p.m. the Team was requested to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service in locating and accessing a woman experiencing seizures in the woods above Dolgoch Falls near Tywyn.
With only an outline description of the whereabouts of the woman, a number of small hill parties were deployed to search likely locations and a team member escorted WAST crew up the path in anticipation of quick find. The casualty was quickly located and assessed by the ambulance crew who requested an urgent evacuation. Assistance from the Coastguard helicopter, R936, was requested and granted, and a suitable landing site was identified by the Team near to the Casualty location. The casualty was carried by stretcher to the landing zone and flown to Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth for further assessment and treatment. A member of the Casualties party was escorted down by Team volunteers, and everyone was off the hill by 8:15 p.m. At around 10:30 p.m. Team call-handlers were alerted to 3 walkers lost and benighted on Cader Idris. The men, in their 20's and from the Aberystwyth area, had set off from Dolgellau earlier in the day to walk to their campsite at Minffordd. The route was more complex than anticipated and they found themselves disorientated and lost on steep ground as darkness fell. The position of the men was identified using PhoneFind protocols to quiz their mobile phones for location information. A party of Team volunteers was then dispatched to locate and escort the men from their position. Tired but otherwise unharmed, the men were brought down off the mountain and delivered to their nearby campsite by 1:30 a.m. |
