At 2:15 p.m. the Team was requested to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service with an injured man at Dolgoch Falls. The man had fallen 20 ft  onto railings and sustained significant chest injuries.

Team members arrived on scene along with Air Ambulance, paramedics and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. After the casualty had been stabilised by the Heli-med crew, Team volunteers assisted with the transportation of the casualty to the waiting aircraft. The casualty was flown to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth for further treatment and care.

The Team was stood down at 4:15 p.m.

Lost Walker on Cader Idris

10/6/2022

At around 11:00 p.m., Team call-handlers received report of a hill walker lost on Cader Idris. The male had stated his walk from Minford carpark earlier in the day and during the evening had become disorientated due to failing light and weather conditions. Finding himself lost and unable to follow the path he called for help.

Attempts to locate the male using phone-find technology were unsuccessful. With little to go on other than confirmation of his vehicle type and registration, the team deployed to Minffordd Carpark along members of South Snowdonia Search and Rescue who were called in to assist with the search.

Once at Minfforrd, it was confirmed that the vehicle was still in the carpark, and hill parties made ready to commence searches along likely routes down off the mountain. As Team volunteers were leaving the carpark, word came in that the lost walker had made it safely down the north side of the mountain to Ty Nant and was being assisted by a passing farmer back to his vehicle.

Team members waited at Minffordd until the lost walker arrived before departing  for home at 01:45am.

Vulnerable Missing Person Search near Dylife

6/6/2022

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. the Team received a request from Brecon Mountain rescue  to assist in the search for a vulnerable person near Dylife, south east of Machynlleth.

Two Team volunteers arrived on scene almost immediately, having happened across the incident on their way home from training, with a further 11 following on behind.

A protracted operation went on throughout the night and finally was stood down after 1:00 p.m. the following afternoon.

Lost Walkers on Cader Idris

5/6/2022

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., Team call-handlers were made aware of an overdue walker on Cader Idris

A couple in their 50s set off from Minffordd, to climb the mountain and descended down the Pony Path towards Ty Nant.  The plan was then  to return to their car at Minffordd via the Fox's Path, and perhaps not realising they were heading back to the summit plateau.

On reaching Llyn y Gadair and seeing the steep scree slopes of the Fox's Path ahead, the woman decided she couldn't make it and so returned down to wait at the road while her husband continued on to fetch the car.  Not appreciating the climb and distance ahead of him she became concerned when he didn't arrive in the time she expected.   Eventually she raised the alarm, fearing her husband had got into difficulty on the mountain.

As the team were deploying it became clear that the husband had reached Minffordd car park and was on his way to collect his wife.

The Team was stood down shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Flare on Hills Above Fairbourne

2/6/2022

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Team call-handlers received reports of what was believed to be a flare on the hills to the south of Fairbourne.

Two local volunteers were dispatched to investigate but could not find any evidence of persons in distress.

Given that it was the Jubilee Bank holiday, with associated celebrations, and that the area in question had reasonable mobile phone coverage, it was deemed to be a false alarm with good intent.

Stuck Vehicle above Happy Valley

1/6/2022

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., Call Handlers were made aware of a family stuck in the mountains near Machynlleth.

Further investigations revealed they were in a vehicle stuck in mud on a "green-lane" hill track above Happy Valley. There were no injuries.

The offer was made to walk the family group down to safety, but the informant declined, being unwilling to leave the vehicle.

The incident was passed back to North Wales Police and the Team was stood down.
