At 10:30am the team were called by North Wales Police to a walker who had become crag fast on steep ground whilst navigating the Cambrian Trail on Cadair Idris. Reportedly unable to move the team were deployed to the location to assist. On arrival the walker had managed to get to safer ground and the team were able to assist the walker down off the mountain
At 08:00am we were called to the Nant y Moch reservoir area to assist Brecon Mountain Rescue Team following reports of a lady with an ankle injury. Due to the remote location of the incident, communications were a challenge however once located, the casualty received treatment and pain relief before being evacuate by stretcher to a waiting ambulance for onward transportation to hospital.
At 4:50 the team were called by North Wales Police to reports of group of walkers descending the Foxes path on Cadair Idris who’s dog had sustained an injury. Despite their best efforts and perseverance, the group were unable to assist the large dog down off the mountain and called for assistance. As team members were making their way to the incident, the owners notified the team call handler that the dog had made a miraculous recovery and they were now able to continue. With a round of ap-paws the team stood down.
At 08:30 am the team were called to assist Welsh Ambulance with a member of the public suffering a suspected cardiac episode. We extend thoughts and sympathy to the family and friends at this difficult time.
At 09:30pm the team were called to a walker who had sustained a lower leg injury resulting them being unable weight bear whilst descending off Aran Fawddwy. A request was made for support from our friends at neighbouring South Snowdonia Search rescue and Coastguard Helicopter to assist. On arrival, team casualty carers were able to provide initial treatment for the casualties’ injury. With Coastguard helicopter having arrived on scene, the decision was made to evacuate the casualty by stretcher. Team members from Aberdyfi and South Snowdonia packaged the casualty and carried the injured walker back down off the mountain. Team stood down at 02.15am
At 1.45pm North Wales Police altered the team to a member of the public who was walking the coastal path and had become lost / disorientated in woodland between Machynlleth and Aberdyfi. A call handler from the team used Phone find technology to get an accurate location for the casualty then provided instruction to assist the walker back onto the path to continue with their day.
At 04:20 pm the team were called to a member of the public on Cadair Idris suspected to be suffering with effects of heat stroke and loosing consciousness. With the team enroute, two team members who were out climbing nearby quickly diverted to the location. Due to the location, worsening condition and time critical nature of the condition a request was made for Coastguard Helicopter R936. The casualty was airlifted to Bangor ED for further assessment and treatment.
At approximately 06:00 pm the team received a request from North Wales Police to assist in the search for a high risk missing person in Aberdyfi. Given the large area, request was made for availability of Search Dogs through SARDA Wales and our own Search Dog Handler and Search Dog Celyn (SARDA South Wales) deployed to the last know location. With team members getting ready to deploy, news came through from the Police that the missing person had been found safe and well and the team stood down
