28/8/2011 Team requested to help in search for a missing vunerable person in the area of Dinas Reservoir,Ponterwyd,nr Aberystwyth by Dyfed/Powys Police.Team searched woodland in the area,and our team member who is also a Search And Rescue Trail Dog handler checked priority areas.Nothing of note was found[apart from a mobile phone which may be relevant].Many other services were involved,fire service,coastguard,police helo/officers,underwater diving unit.Was informed the following day that the person had been located safely in a local village.
The team were contacted by North wales Police regarding a party having
difficulty finding there way down from the top of Cadair Idris. The party were contacted by the team leader via mobile phone who was able to give advice. On decent they came across a DofE assessor who assisted the party down to safety whilst the team monitored there progress via mobile updates. The second callout in half a hour was to a mother and her 12 year old son on the Minfordd path. The son was suffering from a previous problem with his feet which was making walking extremely difficult. With light fading fast the team were deployed immediately locating the pair on the Minfordd path in Cwm Cau, Cadair Idris. The team made a assessment of the casualty on scene and decided to walk him down with the assistance of team members and additional lighting.
Team called to a collapsed walker near to the top of the Stone Shoot on Cadair Idris. Following advice from a passing doctor the walker was evacuated by RAF Rescue 122 with team on standby.
