attended by a National Park Ranger, and Rescue Team members were shortly on the scene to carry him off the hill and to a waiting ambulance at the valley bottom.
On Saturday 22nd volunteers from ASART were on hand to help the South Snowdonia Team in the rescue of a walker from the head of Cwm Mynach. The male walker, part of a large party setting out to climb Diffwys, slipped on the lower sections of the old mining incline, and having fallen a short distance, sustained a dislocated knee. The casualty was immediately
attended by a National Park Ranger, and Rescue Team members were shortly on the scene to carry him off the hill and to a waiting ambulance at the valley bottom. The team were alerted to a group of 3 males lost in bad weather
on Cadair Idris at 16:50. The group were poorly equipped and did not have a map although luckily for them they had located one of the new Snowdonia National Park Grid Reference markers on a style which is part of the parks mountain safety initiative. The team quickly deployed in poor weather conditions and located the party who were very cold, they provided warm clothing and walked the 3 down before dropping them back to their car. This was the first time the Grid Reference markers had been used in a rescue on Cadair Idris and something which massively aided in the rescue. Yet again the team would urge all venturing out into the mountains to ensure they are properly equipped and have the skills to navigate in the terrain. http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/2012/09/17/men-rescued-by-search-team-after-becoming-lost-in-bad-weather-55578-31850232/ The team were put on standby as a call came in regarding a person
who had fallen down a mine shaft in the Taliesin area. The Team were shortly stood down due to enough resources already on site. The team were contacted just before midnight by
Dyfed Powys Police requesting assistance in searching the sand dunes at Ynyslas for a local female. The team conducted a search of the area and located the casualty in the early hours of Monday morning. Team members administered first aid on scene before transporting her to an awaiting ambulance with the assistance of the Coastguard. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-mid-wales-19541185 The team were contacted by North Wales Police for the second time
to return to Corris to conduct a search of some steep ground for a local man who is still missing in the area. The team were asked to conduct a search of a number of the mine
workings around the Corris area following the disappearance of a local man in late July. The team were assisted by South Snowdonia SART where the combined efforts of the teams covered all of the main mine workings in the area and river margins. |
