Overdue Walker on Cader Idris

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., Call-Handlers from the Team were made aware of an overdue walker on Cader Idris.

The man had been walking with his father on the mountain during the day. At around 1:30 p.m. the father had decided to turn back to the car whilst the son opted to carry on with his walk.

As darkness fell, and there was still no sign of the son back at the car-park, the alarm was raised.

As Team volunteers started to check likely alternative routes down from the mountain, news came through that the man had been located and the Team was stood down just before 8:00 p.m.

Missing Person near Machynlleth #5

The Team was once again deployed to assist in the ongoing search for a missing man near Machynlleth.

Analysis of the evidence had indicated fresh areas of potential interest, and the Team was tasked to search the areas around these targets.

The man was not found, and the search remains ongoing.

Body Recovery near Machynlleth

19/9/2021

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. the Team was requested by Dyfed Powys Police to assist in the recovery of a body found by near Machynlleth.

The man's body was located by Police assets involved in a missing person search. The body was carried by stretcher to the roadside and passed on the the care of the Police and Undertaker.

Everyone was off the hill by 11:15 p.m.

The Team was once again deployed to assist in the ongoing search for a missing man near Machynlleth.

New evidence had indicated fresh areas of potential interest, and the Team was tasked to search the farmland and scattered buildings around these targets.

The man was not found, and the search remains ongoing.

Missing Person near Machynlleth #2

13/9/2021

At around 11:30 a.m. the Team was requested by Dyfed Powys Police to re-join the ongoing missing person search in the Machynlleth area.

The multi-agency operation involved Police, Fire & Rescue, Coastguard, Mountain Rescue and Search & Rescue Dogs Association assets.

There were a number of promising leads discovered during the day, but the person was not located, and the Police search remained open.

Missing Person near Machynlleth

Shortly before midnight, the Team was requested by Dyfed Powys Police to assist in an ongoing missing person search in the Machynlleth area.

The Team searched an area indicated by evidence provided by the Police investigators, but no sign of the man was found. The Team was stood down at around 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

Injured Walker at Coed y Brenin

Shortly before 6:00 p.m., the Team was requested to assist our neighbours at South Snowdonia Search & Rescue Team with a seriously injured walker at Coed y Brenin forest park.

The walker had slipped and fallen a significant distance onto rocks. Coastguard helicopter Rescue187 attended the scene but prevailing conditions meant that the casualty could not be winched from the difficult location. A rope-hauling system was set up to extract the casualty, who was then transported by Team vehicle to a nearby landing site for evacuation.

The incident was completed shortly before midnight.
