The casualty, a 48 year old woman, had fallen and sustained an ankle injury on steep ground near the Roman Steps at Cwym Bychan.
The Coast-Guard helicopter, Rescue 936, was available to assist in the evacuation, but the casualty was not in an accessible position. Rescue voluteers were flown to the site where they splinted the woman's leg before carrying her some 250m over rough ground to a position suitable for a winching operation. During the lift, Team members operated a "High-line" system to keep the casualty and winchman stable as they approached the aircraft.
