The casualty, a 61 year old woman with a history of angina, had collapsed at the popular beauty-spot, and was unreachable by road-based ambulance.
The lady was attended to by two off-duty paramedics who happened to be at the location, and Team members living in the vicinity were quickly on-scene with further resources.
Owing to the severity of the woman's condition and the expected arrival time of an ambulance, it was decided to request air support from Rescue 936. On arrival at the quarry, the aircraft was unable to land close to the casualty because of a parked vehicle, and instead put down at the foot of the hill. Team personnel, along with one of the paramedics, evacuated the casualty down to the valley floor by LandRover to meet the waiting aircraft. The casualty was quickly taken on board and transferred to Bronglais hospital for further treatment.
