The party were part of a 3-Peaks charity event and had become disorientated in low cloud in the Pencoed area of the mountain. Unable to contact the event emergency numbers, the group rang the Police for Mountain Rescue assistance.
The walkers were able to make use of the grid-reference discs attached to the stiles and gates on the mountain and could give the team an accurate indication of their location.
As the Team members gathered at Minffordd, they encountered the event coordinators who were unaware of the situation with the lost party. They had radio contact with a good spread of marshals on the hill and, armed with the location supplied by the Team, were quickly able to move event personnel to make contact with the walkers and escort them off the hill. Once satisfied that contact with the party had been made, the Team was stood down.
