A couple in their 50s set off from Minffordd, to climb the mountain and descended down the Pony Path towards Ty Nant. The plan was then to return to their car at Minffordd via the Fox's Path, and perhaps not realising they were heading back to the summit plateau.
On reaching Llyn y Gadair and seeing the steep scree slopes of the Fox's Path ahead, the woman decided she couldn't make it and so returned down to wait at the road while her husband continued on to fetch the car. Not appreciating the climb and distance ahead of him she became concerned when he didn't arrive in the time she expected. Eventually she raised the alarm, fearing her husband had got into difficulty on the mountain.
As the team were deploying it became clear that the husband had reached Minffordd car park and was on his way to collect his wife.
The Team was stood down shortly after 10:00 p.m.
