The woman had gone missing from a residential care facility in the area earlier in the day; a pattern of behaviour that was described as "out of character".
NWP had initiated the search earlier in the day, and the Police air support had been in action covering the open ground around the eastern end of the Mawddach Estuary.
The Team was requested, along with dog teams from the Search & Rescue Dogs Association, to seach the wooded hills surrounding Dolgellau.
As the initial seach parties were getting ready to deploy, the woman returned to the care unit and the operation was stood down.
