Starting out at 10:30 a.m. the 71 year old man had left his walking companion at Llyn Cau while he pushed on to the summit. Some 7 hours after then had separated, the man had not returned and remained uncontactable, and the alarm was raised.
The Team's swift-water rescue group were having a dry-session practising rope-work in a field adjacent to the Minffordd car-park so were quickly on scene. By interviewing other returning walkers, it was quickly established that the man had been spotted back at lake-level, making slow but steady progress down-hill. When a further 20 minutes had elapsed with still no sign of the man, two of the water team who had hill-kit in their vehicles were dispatched up Minffordd steps to check everything was still progressing safely. They encountered the man about 15 minutes later and escorted down the last section of his journey.
Everyone was safely off the hill by 9:30 p.m.
