The 64 year old lady, suffering from the early stages of dementia, was a regular and very fit walker, but had failed to return home the previous day. She was last sighted at 3:00 pm and a confusing pattern of sightings in widely spaced locations around that time was hard to decipher.
The search was co-ordinated by Dyfed-Powys Police, and involved Police search teams along with volunteers from Aberdyfi, Brecon, North East Wales and South Snowdonia Search & Rescue Teams. The Brecon Team had worked through Monday night conducting vehicle searches of the roads in the area, and on Tuesday, search parties on foot started sweeping the lady’s normal walking route. By around 6:00 pm this area had been cleared and the focus of the search shifted to Llangadfan, where an earlier cluster of sightings had been reported.
