The boy, from a residential unit near the estuary, had gone missing shortly after 11:00 p.m. He had also gone missing earlier in the day, with the stated aim of reaching the sea, so this was an area of concern for rescuers. As such Coastguard teams were called out and the Barmouth Lifeboat was also put on standby. In addition Police and RAF helicopters were in action over the water and search dog teams were making their way to the area.
At around 12:45 a.m. the boy was located, safe and well, and the team was stood down.
